Measuring 2 metres in width and 162mm in height, this robust guard helps prevent snow, tiles and debris from slipping off the roof, reducing the risk of property damage or personal injury. Ideal for residential properties, conservatories and extensions, this galvanised snow guard acts as a protective barrier, helping to control snow movement and allowing it to melt gradually rather than slide off in heavy sheets. It is especially beneficial for roofs with smooth finishes such as slate, where snow slippage is more common.

Designed for Extreme Weather Conditions

Heavy snowfall can place significant strain on rooflines and guttering. For context, one square metre of snow at 300mm (12”) deep can weigh approximately 96kg. On an average semi-detached house with around 30m² of roof area, that could equate to nearly 2.8 tonnes of snow load. FloPlast rainwater systems are manufactured, tested and accredited to BS EN 12200, BS EN 607, and BS EN 1462 British Standards. As part of Kitemark accreditation, fascia brackets are tested in accordance with BS EN 1462 Clause 6.2 for load-bearing capacity. British Standards require brackets to support 75kg at designated centres (typically one metre apart, depending on system guidance), ensuring reliable performance under demanding conditions.

Easy Installation & Secure Fitting

The guard is straightforward to handle and install. Brackets should be fitted at maximum 800mm centres using two No.12 x 1½” round head screws per bracket. In areas prone to high snowfall, fascia brackets should be spaced at a maximum of 400mm centres for additional strength and security. Performance can also be influenced by factors such as roof pitch, tile or slate type, roof overhang, property elevation (above or below 100 metres above sea level), and whether the roof faces north or south. By helping to prevent snow and tile slippage, this system can also assist in reducing potential insurance claims linked to winter damage.
