Shipping Policy – JJ Building Materials

This Shipping Policy sets out how JJ Building Materials processes, delivers and manages orders placed through our website. By placing an order with us, you agree to the terms detailed below.

1. Delivery Areas

JJ Building Materials delivers across most of the United Kingdom.
Some locations may incur additional surcharges or extended delivery times, depending on product type, pallet weight, or supplier restrictions.

We do not currently deliver outside the UK.

Certain remote postcodes may be excluded or require manual quotation before ordering. If this applies to your order, our team will contact you before dispatch.

2. Delivery Methods

We use a combination of:

  • Palletised delivery services
  • Courier networks
  • Our own delivery vehicles (where available)
  • Direct-to-you deliveries from manufacturers and suppliers

The delivery method depends on the type, size and weight of the products you order.

Large, heavy or fragile items (such as tiles, bricks, insulation, roofing materials and sheet goods) will typically be delivered via pallet network.

3. Delivery Timescales

Delivery timescales vary by product and supplier.
Estimated delivery times are stated on each product page; however, these are estimates and not guaranteed.

Most standard orders arrive within 2–7 working days, depending on stock availability and your location.

Special-order, non-stock or made-to-order items will have extended lead times.

If your order contains multiple items, they may arrive in separate deliveries.

4. Delivery Charges

Delivery charges are calculated at checkout and are based on:

  • Delivery postcode
  • Weight and size of products
  • Number of pallets or parcels required
  • Delivery method (standard, express or special service)

Some items may require manual shipping quotations due to their dimensions or supplier restrictions.

Delivery charges are non-refundable unless:

  • You cancel the order before dispatch
  • The item is faulty, damaged, or misdescribed (see Refund Policy)

Shipping rates and surcharges vary and may be updated without notice.

5. Receiving Your Delivery

Access Requirements

It is your responsibility to ensure that delivery vehicles can safely access your property.
Pallet deliveries require:

  • Hard, flat ground
  • Sufficient space for a pallet truck
  • Safe kerbside access

Drivers cannot:

  • Enter inside your property
  • Carry goods manually beyond kerbside
  • Navigate steep inclines, gravel, grass or uneven surfaces

Kerbside delivery means the pallet will be offloaded to the nearest accessible point outside your property.

Inspection of Goods

You must inspect goods upon delivery.
If there are any visible issues, shortages or damage, you must notify us within the timeframes outlined in our Refund Policy.

Do not install products until you have checked they are correct, complete and undamaged.

6. Missed Deliveries & Redelivery Attempts

If a delivery attempt fails because:

  • No one was available to receive the goods
  • The delivery location was inaccessible
  • Incorrect delivery details were provided

You may be charged a redelivery or return-to-depot fee.

We cannot accept liability for delays caused by customer unavailability or access restrictions.

7. Pallet Deliveries

Many building products require pallet delivery. Important notes:

  • Pallets are non-returnable.
  • Drivers cannot remove pallets or packaging materials.
  • Deliveries occur Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
  • Timed or Saturday deliveries may be available at an additional cost.

Pallets may weigh up to 1,000kg. Ensure safe handling once delivered.

8. Split Deliveries

Due to supplier networks, your order may arrive in multiple deliveries, potentially from different locations or on different days.

No additional charges will apply for split shipments unless previously agreed.

9. Special-Order & Non-Stock Items

Products marked as:

  • Special-order
  • Made-to-order

may require extended delivery periods.
These items cannot be cancelled after dispatch and may not be eligible for return unless faulty (see Refund Policy).

10. Delivery Delays

We are not liable for delivery delays caused by:

  • Courier or pallet network issues
  • Supplier delays
  • Weather conditions
  • Road closures or transport disruption
  • Events outside our control

If a delay occurs, we will communicate updates as soon as the information becomes available.

11. Damaged, Missing or Incorrect Goods

Please refer to our Refund Policy for full details:
https://jjbuilding.myshopify.com/policies/refund-policy

Damage must be reported within 3 working days of delivery.

We require:

  • Photos of damage
  • Order number
  • Quantities affected

Do not discard damaged goods or packaging until instructed.
