Installation Guidelines
For optimal performance, always ensure the UV-protected side (clearly marked) is facing outward when installing. Sheets must be installed with a minimum roof pitch of 10° to allow proper water drainage.
The flutes of the sheet must run vertically—from the top to the bottom of the slope—not side to side. Sheets cannot be joined from top to bottom. When sealing or flashing, always use low modulus neutral cure sealant and cross-linked butyl flashing tape to maintain weather resistance and ensure longevity.
Cutting and Shaping
Corotherm 10mm is easy to cut and won’t crack or shatter when handled properly. For straight cuts along the flutes, a sharp utility knife works well. When cutting across the flutes, a fine-toothed saw is recommended. For any curved cuts, a fine-toothed jigsaw is the best tool for the job.
Thermal Expansion
Polycarbonate expands and contracts with changes in temperature. To prevent buckling or warping, leave adequate expansion gaps when fitting the sheets. Allow a gap at the top end, and when drilling fixing holes, leave at least 3mm of space around each one. Never over-tighten or clamp the sheets—leave them room to move.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Corotherm can be cleaned quickly and easily using lukewarm soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, sharp tools, or anything with a high alkaline content, as these may damage the surface. Thanks to its UV-resistant coating, the sheet is also largely self-cleaning.
10-Year Warranty
This product comes with a 10-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects under normal weather conditions. If the sheet fails due to a defect within this period, it will be replaced free of charge. Please note, the warranty is only valid if the product is installed and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The warranty does not cover costs related to re-installation or any consequential damage.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I use Corotherm 10mm Twinwall for roofing?
Yes! Unlike the 4mm version, the 10mm Twinwall Corotherm sheet is suitable for roofing as well as glazing. Just ensure you install it with the correct pitch and follow the manufacturer’s guidelines.
2. Which way should the flutes run during installation?
The flutes must run vertically—from the top to the bottom of the slope—to allow proper water drainage. Do not install them side-to-side, as this can cause water to pool and affect the sheet’s structural integrity.
3. How do I maintain the 10-year warranty?
To keep your warranty valid, the sheet must be fixed and maintained according to Ariel Plastics' instructions. That includes using the correct sealants, allowing for expansion, and cleaning with appropriate materials. The warranty does not cover installation errors or damages caused by incorrect use.
