Castle Composites Promenade Tile PU Adhesive - 1 Litre Bottle
Specially Formulated for Promenade Tiles
Castle Composites 2265 PU Adhesive is specially formulated for bonding GRC Promenade Tiles to waterproofing systems and other suitable flat roof surfaces. It can be used on bituminous felt roofs, sanded asphalt and a wide range of other substrates, making it a versatile fixing solution for flat roofs, balconies, walkways and terraces.
The polyurethane adhesive is solvent- and filler-free and has been used for bonding promenade tiles since 1996. It is accepted by most waterproofing manufacturers, although compatibility should always be confirmed with your waterproofing manufacturer before installation.
Flexible and Reliable Fixing
During curing, the adhesive draws moisture from the atmosphere and expands to provide firm support beneath the tile. This makes it a practical fixing solution that can be used in damp and humid conditions.
Once cured, the adhesive retains a degree of flexibility. This allows it to accommodate thermal and structural movement within the tiles and roof, unlike rigid cementitious tile adhesives.
Suitable Substrates
2265 PU Adhesive can be used to bond GRC Promenade Tiles to a variety of suitable surfaces, including:
- EPDM rubber
- Bituminous felt
- Asphalt
- Fibre glass
- Single ply
- Liquid coatings
- Concrete
- Timber
Always check that the adhesive is compatible with the specific waterproofing system or substrate being used before application.
Coverage and Application
The PU Adhesive is supplied in a 1 litre bottle with a nozzle. One bottle will adhere approximately 50 tiles, covering around 5 m². To achieve the recommended 3-4 mm adhesive bead, simply cut the nozzle at the marked position and apply the adhesive according to the installation instructions.
It is important to apply the adhesive exactly as recommended. Using too much adhesive, or applying it too close to the edge of the tile, can cause the expanding foam to rise through the gaps between tiles. If this occurs, do not attempt to remove the adhesive while it is wet. Allow it to cure fully, then carefully cut away the excess with a craft knife and remove any remaining marks using wire wool or a similar suitable material.
Installation Guidance and Safety
Always follow the instructions supplied on the bottle and in the manufacturer's installation guide when using PU Adhesive. Correct application is important to achieve a secure and professional finish.
The appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety precautions detailed in the product datasheet should also be followed during use.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much area does a 1 litre bottle of PU Adhesive cover?
One 1 litre bottle will adhere approximately 50 promenade tiles, providing coverage for around 5 m². Coverage can vary depending on the application and installation conditions.
Which surfaces can 2265 PU Adhesive bond to?
The adhesive can be used with EPDM rubber, bituminous felt, asphalt, fibre glass, single ply, liquid coatings, concrete and timber. Compatibility with the specific waterproofing system should always be confirmed with the relevant manufacturer before installation.
What happens if too much adhesive is applied?
Because the adhesive expands during curing, applying too much or placing it too close to the tile edge can cause foam to rise through the gaps between tiles. If this happens, allow the adhesive to cure completely before carefully cutting away the excess. Do not try to remove expanding adhesive while it is still wet.
