Wienerberger Smeed Dean Belgrave Yellow Stock Brick
A classic stock-faced facing brick in a yellow / multi tone, the Smeed Dean Belgrave offers traditional character with structural reliability. Because it’s molded in soft mud, subtle colour variation is natural — mixing bricks from several packs during laying is recommended for a balanced finish.
This brick is intended for external facing applications, offering properties tailored to performance and durability in typical UK conditions.

Description & Usage Notes
This brick is produced by the soft mud moulding process, giving a slightly textured, hand-crafted character in a light yellow blend. Its stock finish suits heritage, period, or softer tone facades.
With a water absorption of up to 22%, this brick is more porous than many wirecut alternatives, so careful wall detailing — including cavity drainage, flashing, and suitable mortar — is essential for long-term durability. Its F2 durability rating ensures frost resistance in standard exposure. Compressive strength (? 15 N/mm²) is suitable for facing use but not for heavily loaded structural elements.
Always blend bricks from multiple packs during installation to reduce visible banding or shading shifts. Order a sample or view in situ before bulk purchase to verify tone and texture.
FAQs
Is 22% water absorption too high for an external wall?
Not necessarily — many traditional stock bricks have higher absorption rates. The key is good detailing: cavities, flashings, and drainage must handle the moisture reliably.
Will the yellow colour vary between packs?
Yes — variation is expected with soft mud stock bricks. Mixing bricks from at least three packs during laying helps to even out the appearance.
Can this brick be used structurally?
Not usually for heavy structural loads. Its compressive strength (? 15 N/mm²) is aimed at facing use, not primary load-bearing. Use for structural walls only if it meets your design’s loading requirements and is backed by structural calculation.
