Standard doors feature a semi-solid core, providing stability and strength for everyday internal use, while FD30 versions use a solid fire-rated construction for enhanced fire protection. Where an FD30 version is selected, the fire rating applies when the door is correctly installed as part of a complete, compliant fire-door assembly.

Trimming and Finishing

Standard doors are supplied with 10mm solid softwood lippings and allow up to 6mm of trimming from any edge, helping to achieve a suitable fit during installation. FD30 doors feature 6mm lippings and allow up to 3mm of trimming from any edge. Always follow the relevant manufacturer guidance when trimming and installing fire-rated doors. Loose edge banding supplied with the door can be re-applied after trimming using a high-quality impact adhesive. For the best results, make sure the trimmed edges are square and flat and maintain constant pressure on the edge band until the adhesive has fully bonded. The exposed long edge can alternatively be painted with a good-quality paint that closely matches the door face. Recommended colour references include Ivory, Black (RAL 9005) and Light Grey (RAL 7044). Masking tape can be used along the face edge to help prevent paint from spreading onto the laminate surface. A minimum of two coats is recommended to protect exposed timber lipping.
