Ibstock Oatmeal Textured Wirecut Facing Brick
The Ibstock Oatmeal Textured Wirecut Facing Brick is a buff / cream-toned clay facing brick with a light texture and clean wirecut finish. Because clay is a natural material, subtle variation in shade and texture may occur between batches — mixing bricks from at least three packs on site is advised to maintain a consistent finish.
This brick offers both aesthetic appeal and solid structural properties. With a strong compressive strength, moderate water absorption, and frost resistance, it is suited to many external wall applications under typical UK exposure conditions.

Description & Usage Notes
This brick is manufactured using the wirecut (extruded) process, ensuring precise dimensions and clean edges. Its buff / cream tone gives a lighter façade option while still retaining depth through texture.
With an F2 durability classification, the brick resists frost under normal UK external exposure. The 9% water absorption is moderate and typical for quality facing bricks — good detailing (such as proper cavity design, flashing, drainage, and suitable mortar) will support long-term performance.
To reduce the chance of visible banding, always mix bricks from several packs during installation. Requesting a sample or detailed images before placing large orders is also recommended to verify the tone and texture match your expectations.
FAQs
Is 9% water absorption acceptable for exterior use?
Yes — 9% is a solid value for a facing brick. When used with proper detailing and moisture control, it performs reliably in external wall applications.
What does the F2 durability rating mean?
It means the brick is frost-resistant and suitable for general external exposure in the UK. For more extreme conditions (e.g. marine environments or severe freeze-thaw), a higher durability brick may be considered.
Will the colour vary between packs?
Yes. Shade and texture variation is natural in clay bricks. Mixing bricks from at least three different packs helps blend any differences and create a more even visual outcome.
