Forest 6ft (1.83m x 1.8m) Decibel Noise Reduction Fence Panel
The Forest 6ft (1.83m x 1.8m) Decibel Noise Reduction Fence Panel is an innovative fencing solution designed to create a quieter, more peaceful outdoor environment. Combining premium craftsmanship with advanced acoustic technology, this high-performance fence panel helps reduce unwanted external noise while maintaining an attractive contemporary appearance.
Ideal for gardens located near busy roads, railways or other noisy environments, the Decibel Fence Panel offers privacy, security and industry-tested sound reduction, making it an excellent choice for homeowners looking to improve the comfort of their outdoor space.
Advanced Acoustic Technology
Unlike conventional fence panels, the Decibel Fence Panel is manufactured using 17mm interlocking tongue and groove boards with extended tongue and groove joints. These tightly fitting boards are housed within a robust rebated frame, helping to eliminate gaps that could allow sound to pass through.
The panel also incorporates Forest's innovative Triform™ board technology, where each board features a triangular profile on both sides. This unique design helps disperse and diffuse sound waves by forcing them to strike multiple surfaces, reducing the amount of noise transmitted through the fence.
Independently tested, the panel has demonstrated the ability to reduce unwanted noise by up to 30 decibels (dB). In practical terms, this can reduce the sound of a petrol lawnmower to approximately the level of a normal conversation, representing an eight-fold reduction in perceived noise intensity under controlled test conditions.
Strong Construction & Easy Installation
Manufactured from smooth-planed, pressure-treated PEFC-certified timber, the Decibel Fence Panel offers exceptional durability as well as outstanding acoustic performance. The timber is protected against rot and fungal decay and is backed by a 15-Year Anti-Rot Guarantee.
For the best noise reduction results, Forest recommends installing the panel using slotted timber or concrete fence posts, or by fixing it directly to timber posts to eliminate any gaps around the edges. Standard U-brackets are not recommended, as they can create openings through which sound may travel.
The panel can be installed with the boards running either vertically or horizontally, allowing greater flexibility to suit your preferred garden design. For even greater acoustic performance, the fence height can be increased by fitting concrete or timber gravel boards, raising the overall barrier to over 2 metres.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much noise can the Forest Decibel Fence Panel reduce?
Under controlled laboratory testing, the panel has been shown to reduce unwanted noise by up to 30 decibels (dB). Actual performance will vary depending on factors such as the noise source, distance, installation method, surrounding environment and fence height.
How should the Decibel Fence Panel be installed for the best acoustic performance?
For optimum noise reduction, Forest recommends installing the panel into slotted timber or concrete fence posts, or fixing it directly to timber posts so there are no gaps around the panel. Standard U-brackets should be avoided because they can allow sound to pass through.
Can the Decibel Fence Panel be installed in different orientations?
Yes. The panel is designed so the boards can be installed either vertically or horizontally, allowing you to choose the appearance that best complements your garden while still benefiting from its acoustic performance.
