Hardwood Plywood 2440 x 1220mm B/BB Class 2 CE2+
Hardwood Plywood is a high-quality, multi-purpose panel designed for a wide range of interior joinery and decorative applications. Manufactured from durable hardwood veneers, it offers a strong, smooth, and stable surface that’s ideal for projects requiring both strength and a fine finish. Each board is built to meet EN13986 standards and is suitable for dry, interior environments where a non-structural yet dependable sheet material is required.
This plywood is available in 3.6mm, 5.5mm, 9mm, 12mm, 18mm, and 25mm thicknesses, making it suitable for everything from lightweight panelling and boxing-in to robust shelving and furniture construction. The B/BB grade surface ensures one clean face for visible work, with the reverse side allowing for minor imperfections.
While often referred to in the trade as WBP (Weather and Boil Proof) Plywood, this older term relates to the adhesive standard historically used in manufacturing. Modern classifications such as EN314-2 Class 2 glue line and EN636-2 durability rating more accurately describe the performance of the entire board, not just the bonding agent.
When used externally, the board’s faces and edges must be sealed to prevent moisture ingress and ensure long-lasting performance. Made with a Poplar core and Eucalyptus or Beech face veneers, this plywood provides an excellent balance of strength, lightness, and workability. Additionally, it carries FSC Mix 70% certification, ensuring responsible sourcing and sustainability.

FAQs
What is hardwood plywood typically used for?
Hardwood plywood is commonly used for interior joinery projects such as boxing-in, furniture making, shelving, signage, and general decorative applications. It’s valued for its strength, smooth surface, and ease of machining.
Can hardwood plywood be used outside?
Yes, it can be used externally, but only if the edges and faces are properly sealed. Applying a high-quality sealant or paint will help protect against moisture and extend the life of the board.
What does the term WBP mean?
WBP stands for *Weather and Boil Proof* — an older term referring to the type of waterproof adhesive used in plywood manufacturing. Modern standards now use **EN314-2 Class 2** and **EN636-2** to define the performance and durability of the complete board, rather than just the glue.
